Server 2012: An unknown error occurred while installing Active Directory Domain Services. "The event log file is corrupted."

hi,

i had server 2012 enterprise , tried exchange 2013. first shot mess-up, reformated , installed server 2012 fresh on same machine (physical machine, not vm).

the base server 2012 has (just in first shot) installed few apps work (this workstation), office 2013, adobe acrobat, winrar, vmware vsphere client  and that's all. antivirus use avast.
say, first time had no problems setting machine standalone ad dc , installling exchange 2013 on (i messed domain name, reformated it)

but time cannot add ad ds role , finish dcpromo (via management gui). whatever do, same error:

install-addsforest : operation failed because:  unknown error occurred while installing active directory domain services.  "the event log file corrupted."  @ line:1 char:1  + install-addsforest `  + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~      + categoryinfo          : notspecified: (:) [install-addsforest], dcpromoexecutionexception      + fullyqualifiederrorid : dcpromo.general.54,microsoft.directoryservices.deployment.powershell.commands.installadd     sforestcommand

event log file corrupted?

ok, can browse event logs without problem, in case stopped ms event log service, put disabled, rebooted machine, wiped event log files, rebooted again service set automatic, event logs newly created.

but still no joy :(
same error before.

restored backup system state 2 days ago... no avail. again same error :~/

i searched google, did not find similar issue on web. 

any idea else try? not formatting again.

as say, had reformatted, did mean have formatted completed windows server operation system? please let me know when install windows server 2012 , configure relevant settings, it’s on domain environment or on separate machine?

the ad ds installation wizard checks prerequisites met before installation begins. so, please refer following ariticle , check if have met prerequisites.

in addition, dcpromo builds 2 log files (dcpromoui.log , dcpromo.log) in %systemroot%\debug folder, please check log files if errors can find.

also, please troubleshoot active directory domain services installation wizard (dcpromo.exe) issues

Failed to query the results of bpa xpath

0x300000d errors in Microsoft Remote Desktop client

we use rd connect home users office. @ server side remote desktop gateway configured on 2008r2 server. experience following:   for years worked fine, starting last year users apple macbook experienced connection errors after new version of microsoft remote desktop in app store , automatic update. after couple of weeks error disappaered when new updates released. since 6 8 weeks problem again. because don’t have macbook cannot reproduce problem.   starting couple of weeks samsung s6 experiencing problems, here version 8.1.37.135 installed, error displayed is: can’t connect tot remote pc because remote desktop gateway server temporaraily unavailable. try connecting later or contact network administrator assistance. error code  0x300000d   because has worked fine years expect issues on client can configuration error on gateway server.   who pin point real cause?   however, testing other rd gateway server works ok settings identically....
